About Me: I was born in NYC and moved here when I was 16. New York is still in my heart but Florida is where my family and my heart is. Right now I'm in between diplomas, working while i start gearing up for the next. Until then, I'll just be that lazy kid that just looks like she works.
Music: I'm not sure what makes me like a certain artist, song, etc. As with most things in life, it's probably more complicated than it seems. I usually say that I like everything except country. But with Wild 95.5, you get stuck listening to that one Carrie Underwood song and can't help it but to just sing along. What I'm listening to most now: Paramore, Old school Ricki Martin (before his English releases... ew), Don Omar, Timbaland, The Fray
Movies: I'm convinced I just haven't seen enough to satisfy my friends. lol But the ones I can see over and over without getting sick of... Super Troopers, Office Space, 5th Element (don't ask lol), Superbad (Michael Cera! <3), White Christmas (don't ask),
TV: Not much time to watch Tv at the moment, but I do stop and sit down for a few things. CSI (the original in Vegas), House, Arrested Development...
Books: 1984, Things Fall Apart, Pride and Prejudice, Guns Germs and Steel, Science Rules (yes... there IS a book called science rules.. it's actually an overview some philosophers lol), the Harry Potter books (don't get me started lol)... There are more that I'm missing, but these were the first popped in my head.
Likes: dryer sheets, the smell of gasoline lol, National Geographic, the color red, being silly, school (i can't wait to go back)
Dislikes: ketchup, working for a living :(
Vices: impatience, a bit insensitive sometimes.
    Virtues: I'm a geek and I loves it =D

    Day at the station!

Tuesday, October 9, 2007, 01:09 AM EST [General]

    *Warning*

This blog is for those who don't mind really long rambles of nothingness

and randomosities. You have been warned.

A few months ago while I was still selling Gap clothes to people who probably didn't want, but couldn't walk away from me awesome sales skills, I heard this song on our CD that the Gap sends us to play in the store for the month. It was a good song that helped me get through the day especially when someone gave me a dirty look when I told them that 'those pants' would not fit them.

"Five minutes to Midnight" by Boys like Girls made me walk to the FYE on the other side of the mall and just buy the album, which I ended up loving and listening to DEATH. After a while, it just sat in the back seat of my car as other CDs took its place in my player. That is, of course, until recently when "Great Escape", the first track on their CD started playing on Wild 95.5. I remember hearing it on the radio and going... man they're just NOW getting airplay? Regardless of their delayed exposure, I was excited to hear that they were coming to town and that they were actually going to give an acoustic performance at the radio station.

((Now... I LOVE acoustic performances, and if you haven't heard this one already, then you must go NOW ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiR838VOCrA&eurl= ))

So I was at work and listening to the radio when I was supposed to be working, I called in when Kobe announced he was taking names to get into the Acoustic Lunch. Insert random stuffs here plus a hookah , Marco, snickers, a gazelle named Fenton, flatirons and I find myself at the station with Jonas and one of my best friends Jenn.

Martin and Paul form Boys Like Girls were, in girlspeak, adorable. They were funny and charming and poor Martin's performance was great despite him being sick. I think one of the most important things a band brings to the table is their ability to perform live, and I have to say that they were exceptional. I kind of felt like the crowd, mostly female though ranging in age, was a bit quiet for them, but they still conveyed their own energy. I'm a really shy person, so I was doing a little happy dance on the inside, but was composed on the outside. I wasn't really star struck, I just am a really quiet person. So I just smiled and nodded like an idiot when we took pictures with them and got their autograph. LOL

We also got to meet Kobe and Meghan, who turned out to be incredibly awesome and let us stay behind after the rest of the crowd left. We got to do some stuff that I'm not sure I can mention... either because they'll kill me for telling or everyone will kill me in a fit of jealousy 'cause it was way awesome. Buahaha. Let's just say that our day ended in Meghan giving us Family Guy Whoopie Cushions... so that's automatically cooler than your face. Just imagine the rest of the stuff. :p

     Lesson of the day:

Wildspace + day off from work = suhweet!

    OMG STALKER

Tuesday, September 25, 2007, 11:54 PM EST [General]

... at least that's the first thought that popped into my head when I read the latest comment by a young chap named Ninjaface (see comments section) . Not only does he know that my first name is not Steffff, but he was really close to spelling it right. Also, other than myself and the DJs (who are automatically your friend when you register) Jonas was his other friend. This is where my eyebrow perks and the whole 'loss of anonymity' that I mentioned comes into play.

I had found Ninjaface's message on my page on Wednesday and was a bit surprised, but forgot about it after my initial paranoia. It could easily be someone I actually know, right? Well...

I was on my way back from work the other day when there was a huge traffic jam. Traffic in St. Lucie county? Who wudda thunk? So while at a complete stop in the middle of I95, I decided to call the last person who texted me, which just so happened to be my friend from college, Hiyam. She now lives south with her two sisters. So I call and we do our usual bit that we do when we haven't spoken in months and she goes, "Hey... who is that person who commented on your Myspace page before I did?" I tell her that it just so happens to be one of Wildchat's very own, Jonas. She then tells me that Jonas had been trying to friend her over and over and she had been denying his request until she finally just accepted. I thought to myself, "OMG CRAYZE INTRAWEBS PEOPLE"

I finally get home and logged into Myspace. I went to her page, I want to Jonas' page. And superficially, everything was fine. So I spend a bit more time on Jonas' page, and start looking through his pictures. And who do I find? So I call Hiyam again... and this is how our conversation went.

    (ring ring)

    Hiyam: Hello?

Steff: Hey! I was looking at that guy Jonas' myspace pictures. Guess who commented on one?

    Hiyam: Who?

    Stefff: Guess!

    Hiyam: No, who?

    Stefff: Guess!

    (five minutes later)

    Steffff: Guess!

    Hiyam: wtf!

    Stefff: Ok ok! Your sister!

    Hiyam: *giggles*

    Stefff: Uh... hello?

Hiyam: Ok ok you got us... Jonas is actually one of OUR friends. We saw him on Wildspace one day and saw your picture and said" OMG THAT'S STEFFFF"

It took a second to sink in, but then I saw the picture of Jonas and Hiyam's sister on his wildspace and thought 'DURF'. LOL They had asked a friend to use his Wildspace to leave that message on my page, hence the creepiness.

Talk about a small world! LOL

But if I were Hiyam or Jonas... I'd watch my back, bitches! There's going to be some payback! buahahaha!! :p

    Wildspace? Fudge teh watt!??

Friday, August 31, 2007, 12:41 PM EST [General]

Ahh... another internet social networking site. How could I possible resist? I mean.. I avoided Facebook and Myspace for as long as I possible could. I did it for Wildspace. Ultimately its boredom and the need to just have access because of the increasing curiousity that makes me finally sign up. So, like everyone else, I finally gave in and became the another face on the network that likes music, books, and the same crap that is supposedly makes us all potentially bff forevar!!!!oneone!!onety!

So what's different about this one? Sure, they're all 'unique' in their own way. But this is created by a radio station and advertised to a very localized portion of the population; being South Florida. It has it's pros and cons. For one, I have to admit it's a great marketing strategy for 95.5, so my tiara goes off to them., especially since Kevin, Virginia, Jason and Marianna are so personable. Potentially drawing a crowd of 95.5 listeners to one spot, namely their sponsors, is such an attainable thing. Anyone live North of West Palm? Lets meet at the Mojo Room! Great stuff. Wild 95.5 listeners, particularly those North of WPB practically have an RSS feed where the night's hotspot is in their area. Because frankly, sometimes we're just too lazy to take the 40 minute drive to PGA or southward, plus traffic, plus construction. Or we just want to have the least distance possible when we've had a few. ^_^

Cons? I guess it's relative. The assumption is that the vast majority of people on Wildspace are in South Florida; namely... the Treasure coast all the way to Miami. Though, I can easily see that one weirdo that lives in Scotland that signs up for Wildspace because... well... just because he can. LoL. Facebook seems to be mostly on a national level, but growing, and Myspace has been on an international level since before I signed up. So Wildspace has automatically stripped it's users of some level of anonymity AND made it easier for aspiring stalkers! Here's your chance! Perhaps Wild 95.5 should advertise self defense schools and tazer manufacturers. LoL.

Other than my overly analytical ridiculousness above, I actually like Wildspace so far. ^_^ Nice, clean format, fast loading, clean graphics and friendly people. This can potentially be a really successful marketing and networking tool for the radio station and a solid bridge between listeners and DJs. Well done Wild 95.5. :)
