Akon loves to call himself "Konvict" in his songs, however according to a report from The Smoking Gun, Akon is not the bad boy he lets us think he is.

Looks like Akon's biggest crime was being a part of suspicious (albeit successful) marketing plan. Can you recall a single press interview with Akon that didn't include a question about his criminal exploits and his prison days? We didn't think so.

- While the performer's rap sheet does include a half-dozen arrests, Akon has only been convicted of one felony, for gun possession (the charge was later dropped)

 - There was no prison term between 1999 and 2002. And he was never "facing 75 years," as the singer claimed in one videotaped interview.
